In The Lightning Thief ,a fiction story by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson realizes something about himself during his fight with Echidna. Percy learns that he truly is the son of Posiedon. He found that out when he jumped stories down into the Mississipi River, and instead of sinking to the bottom of the river and being lost forever,he got strength from the water. At that point, he realized that he was Poseidon’s son. Everyone at some point in their life realizes something about themself that they never knew was there before.

My Winter Break

Published by under Uncategorized

My winter break wasn’t so good but on the other-hand it wasn’t so bad either. We were planning to visit my dad on Christmas day to open the gifts with him, but my mom decided to have Christmas at my grandma’s instead. We stayed there nearly the whole night. I was playing with my three cousins outside, flopping on the grass, chasing each other, trying to catch our breath. Our chests pounded with excitement as we chased our dogs across the green, blissful, grass and through big, beautiful bushes blooming with roses. I have two dogs named Papi and Nena. Papi is a black, brown, and white Yorkie about one year old. Nena is a gray and white pitbull about seven months old. I was filled with joy as I started opening my presents. That was one of my favorite Christmas’s. We finally got our brand new computer and the whole week I was playing on it non-stop, checking my blog, playing all kinds of games. Day by day I did cross stitching, one by one I made a design so that everyone would have an ornament for their tree. As the week was slowly ending and finally New Years arrived, we all huddled by the t.v. counting down, five, four, three, two, one,Happy New Years!,we all shouted and then we all gave hugs and kisses. When that was all over  we went right back to doing what we were doing. Just like that, my break was over.

My Mexican-American Culture

Published by under Uncategorized

There are many traditions in my Mexican-American culture that we celebrate.  For example, when it’s Happy New Years, my family gets together and we stay up all night, waiting for the New Year to start.  As for Thanksgiving, we eat turkey, but before that, we give thanks for everything in our life that we have gotten.  On Christmas, our family also gets together and we open our gifts under the Christmas tree, usually in the morning.  When we have birthday parties, we make barbeques, play games, and we also bake a cake to celebrate the persons new age.  Those are a couple of traditions that my culture celebrates.
